    After the Supreme Court ruling of Brown vs. Board of Education in 1954, all schools in the United States were called to be unsegregated.

    Nine students in Little Rock, Arkansas were escorted by Federal Troops as they enrolled at the previously all-white Little Rock Central High School.

    Plessy vs. Ferguson

    As a result of this case, the Federal Government decided that segregation was legal as long as it was equal. This resulted in southern states passing laws to require racial segregation in public schools.
